# Installation Guide for Feedback MCP Server This guide explains how to set up and run the Feedback MCP Server with the Electron application. ## Prerequisites 1. Node.js (v16 or higher) 2. npm (usually comes with Node.js) ## Installation Steps 1. First, install the dependencies for the Electron app: ``` npm install ``` 2. Package the Electron app (creates the executable in the out folder): ``` npm run package ``` 3. Install the MCP server dependencies: ``` npm install --prefix mcp @modelcontextprotocol/sdk zod ``` ## Running the MCP Server 1. Start the MCP server: ``` node mcp-server.js ``` 2. The server will automatically launch the Electron app when needed. ## Configuring with Claude Desktop or Cursor To use this MCP server with Claude Desktop or other MCP clients, add the following configuration: ### Claude Desktop (Windows) Add to `%APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json`: ```json { "mcpServers": { "feedback-collector": { "command": "node", "args": ["C:/path/to/your/mcp-server.js"], "disabled": false, "autoApprove": [] } } } ``` Replace `C:/path/to/your/mcp-server.js` with the actual path to your mcp-server.js file. ## Using the MCP Tool Once configured, you can use the collect_feedback tool in your AI assistant with the following parameters: - prompt: The message to display to the user (default: "Please provide your feedback or describe your issue:") - title: The title of the feedback window (default: "AI Feedback Collection") - time_format: The format for time information (options: "full", "iso", "date", "time", "unix"; default: "full") - timezone: The timezone to use (defaults to local) ## Troubleshooting - If you encounter issues with the Electron app not launching, ensure the path in mcp-server.js points to the correct location of the packaged app. - If the server can't connect to the Electron app, check that port 8080 is available or modify the port in both the server and app code. - For permission issues on Windows, try running the command prompt or terminal as administrator.
